  I am in my final year of the Special Education doctoral program at the University of Oregon, and am currently working on my dissertation. I have worked as a nationally certified school psychologist for 13 years in NY, NC, SC, and OR. My background includes substantial work with MTSS, special education law, mental health and behavioral supports, data collection, crisis response, and students with autism spectrum disorder.I am interested in researching how to improve wellness and mental health for students with autism, specifically in a school setting. I finished a study funded by a grant from the Organization of Autism Research (OAR) that modified cognitive-behavioral therapy to address anxiety in children with autism. I have also been working with students with intellectual disabilities in order to develop a mental health screening tool through a grant funded by NIH. Another grant experience that I am working on and passionate about involves integrating mental health supports in schools for children with disabilities. Additionally, I consult with a local school district on their Tier 2 and Tier 3 implementation of a PBIS framework for the PBIS Technical Assistance Center.Other interests include working with turn-around schools, screening for internalizing behaviors through a tiered system of supports, and implementing wrap-around services through an interconnected-systems framework.My volunteer works includes teaching reading to at-risk students and directing a summer camp for 65 under-privileged youth.I am first author on a paper published in Behavioral Interventions, and on a practice brief published by the PBIS TA Center. I participated in one paper that was published by the Journal of Clinical Medicine, and another paper that will be published in Preventing School Failure.
