  Part of the Drug Safety group, working in collaboration with the Medical Research Council (MRC) partaking in early stage experimental design and research in the hope of laying the early foundations for translational impact. Research areas: 1. identification of colorectal bio-markers; 2. protein degradation using novel preserving agents; 3. gene expression in hepatic cell-lines; and 4. efficacy and toxicity of superparamagnetic iron oxide nano particles (SPIONs) uptake in mouse macrophages. Results:1. variation in gene expression amongst small cohort;2. preserving agent (Allprotect(RTM)) was effective in the practical preservation of liver tissue for up to 6-months;3. gene expression varied across cell-lines (followed-up with exhaustive iTRAQ data- paper pending);4. SPION uptake was successful with minimal ADR. Show less
