Made a conscientious effort to learn and increase job knowledge about downstream units in the refinery. Patrolled areas in order to monitor equipment and processed conditions to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.Progressed to a lead position in 2009 overseeing a major expansion for the Crude/ Vacuum units and sour water stripping unit. Played a supervisor and team leader role in the 2010 and 2012 Crude/ Vacuum units upgrade turnarounds. Attended contractors safety meetings. Was a key player on commissioning and safe start-up of these units. Volunteered and participated in the Valero St. Charles 2011 Cat Cracker unit expansion and conversion. Was part of initial commissioning and safe start- up of the new Cat Cracker unit. In August of 2011 was in charge of the de-con, heater pigging and demoing of two Vacuum heaters and a Crude heater. Attended weekly critical lift plans on the safe demo work activity of the heaters. Worked with the safety department on the exclusion zones that were put in place when critical lifts were being implemented and executed.In 2015 volunteered and participated in our Valero St. Charles site cat cracker turnaround.
