      Project Engineer

1993 to 1997 Product Manager Responsible for all engineering aspects for the R. G. Laurence product line of valves ($6-$8 million in annual sales) including, but not limited to, design, drawing, MRB, ISO 9000, Factory Mutual Canadian Standards, Association Certification, Mil-I-452081, development of customer literature, and cost control. Supervised small teams of designers, drafters, and technical employees. Presented performance reviews, authorized overtime, and facilitated project scheduling. Accomplishments:• Implemented automated order driven product system to improve response time from customer order to shipment for not previously engineered products, resulting in incremental growth of 15% per year.• Created two standard product lines of valves that increased market share and allowed the non-engineering sales force to move into new markets.Used Algor FEA to analyze heat and strength in brackets.1990 to 1993 Design Engineer Completed custom bills to fill specific customer requirements for challenging conditions such as corrosive liquids, high temperature, and high-pressure applications. Selected and specified for purchasing materials and equipment for use in unit production and testing (ASTM, AISI, SAE, ASME, military specifications). Accomplishments:• Developed and designed a new Solenoid Actuator to increase range of current solenoid valve products, resulting in the elimination of four older Solenoid units, thereby decreasing inventory. Performed ASME code calculations per API standards. Performed many functions across the company mainly addressing emerging problems that required understanding all process across the company to solve. Often requiring unique solutions and selling them to varied stakeholders internal and external. Addressed a lack of experience and knowledge strength within the company by mentoring and training others so that they could be stronger players in the company. Was instrumental in bringing on new vendors to both reduce cost and allow for second sourcing of components. Accomplishments• Used ANSYS and inventor to design a bellows for 30,000 psi proof pressure.• Designed a family of check valves to allow us to eliminate a costly outside vendor• Qualified a new sensor for subsea work • Implemented a change from out of date Y14.5(1982) to current standard• Added the ability to perform ASME section VIII code work to the company thus eliminating outside contractor.• Created and implemented new procedures for brining on new vendors.CAD system utilized was Inventor and Autocad.
