University of maryland
Aug 2011 - May 2013Full-time graduate student and 1/2 graI am currently a 1/2-time Graduate Research Assistant under Dr. Hugh Bruck in the Multiscale Measurements Laboratory (MML). In the lab, I set-up, test and analyze the mechanical behavior of pin-reinforced sandwich structures by utilizing a compression device. In Fall 2011, I served as a 1/2-time Teaching Assistant for a freshman Statics class (ENES 102). In this role, I conducted office hours, collected and graded homework papers and proctored exams.

May 2012 - Aug 2012Thermal/structural analysis engineer• Created a thermal finite element model for a polystyrene extrusion process using ANSYS 13• Analyzed the model to find the temperature distribution throughout the geometry• Optimized the extrusion process to reduce the number of defective parts created• Presented results at the GEM Fellowship annual conference in San Francisco, CAThis summer, I created a thermal model of an extrusion process that generates triangular shapes out of polystyrene. This analysis was necessary so we could prevent warping of the material during cooling and to potentially increase the processing speed. Another outcome from this analysis was the increased cooling efficiency at the surface of the plastic extruded shape. Show less

Jul 2013 - Jan 2022- Managed a $200M portfolio of manufacturing activities and tracked schedule performance of Cygnus vehicles across 13 internal work centers, including Intracompany Work Orders (IWOs). This role involved frequent interaction with production management, engineering, Integration and Test (I&T), subcontracts, supply chain, Chief Engineer, Program Office and other cross-organizational contacts.- Created an intermediate manufacturing schedule to add visibility into the detailed tasks required to achieve Tier 1 Program schedule commitments. Communicated these task "need dates" to supply chain, subcontracts, work centers and engineering and tracked progress throughout the procurement and production phases.- Streamlined the IWO paperwork modification process by creating a Kanban board system and a standing weekly meeting. This reduced processing time by 60%. We can now process an IWO modification in 10 business days when it used to take over a month.- Coordinated and scheduled the export of completed hardware to our international partner company- Participated in Failure Review Board (FRB) and Material Review Board (MRB) meetings as the representative for the Program Office, using technical expertise to provide recommendations for solving problems while also maintaining a quality product, program schedule and cost.- Facilitated correspondence with manufacturing work centers and other inter-organizational contacts as the prime representative for the Cygnus Program. Show less - Managed day-to-day operations of satellite assembly and integration for Eutelsat E5WB and Galaxy 30 geo-communication satellite programs. Interdisciplinary team size ranged from 5 to 20 people.- Conducted weekly personnel workload forecasting for mechanical technicians- Coordinated mechanical production activities with other functional groups, including: Program Management, I&T Management, Electrical, RF and Environmental Test- Wrote, edited and reviewed manufacturing work instructions (WI) so technicians could clearly understand how to assemble and integrate the various components of the satellite- Performed detailed reviews of engineering drawings prior to production release Show less - Managed a $20M project overseeing a team of 25 individual contributors. Lead the team through engineering design, drafting, procurement and manufacturing activities for production-level test equipment- Effectively communicated program status to key stakeholders on the project, including cost account manager, engineering manager and program manager- Developed and maintained project schedule in Microsoft Project to ensure that engineering team is on-track to complete the project on-time and on-schedule- Successfully established relationships with and managed multiple subcontractors throughout the project, from concept to final design review Show less Innovation Lab Manager:- Successfully managed a $250,000 innovation project portfolio as the Innovation Champion for the Technology Underground lab at Baltimore, MD. Resulted in multiple customer demos, presentations, and future production insertion opportunities- Developed and deployed hackathon challenge at University of Maryland, College Park for the Northrop Grumman Collaboration Space initiative- Advocated for funding for InventNG grassroots hackathon initiatives at Northrop GrummanAdditive Manufacturing Tech Lead:- Spearheaded efforts to insert Additive Manufacturing technology into product to reduce lead time and cost- Created the vision for the Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence; presented concept to the VP of Manufacturing, VP of Engineering and Sector President- Led monthly calls for the Polymer and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) working groups- Coordinated and organized Corporate Additive Manufacturing Consortium conference for 40+ engineers to exchange ideas and promote Additive Manufacturing within the company- Developed and maintained Corporate Additive Manufacturing SharePoint websiteThermal Analyst:- Created and analyzed thermal models for various radar programs- Served as technical thermal lead for the SEWIP Rx antenna including coldplates, modules and radiators- Presented thermal analysis technical briefings to program manager and customers at PDR and CDR- Communicated status of design and analysis to Hardware IPT and other tech leads- Designed test coldplates and procured material for thermal lab testing Show less I am a graduate of the Northrop Grumman Professional Development Program (PDP). It is an 18-month rotational program for new hires. I completed rotations in three different departments: Thermal Analysis, the Reliability Analysis Laboratory (RAL) and Materials & Processes. Thermal analysis:- Performed thermal analysis of printed circuit boards (PCB) using ANSYS Icepak and ANSYS TAS software packages - Ensured that components and PCB remained within program-specified temperature limits- Tested chassis and assemblies in the lab to verify results of computer modelsReliability Analysis Lab (RAL)- Planned, organized and led Failure Review Board meetings on a monthly basis- Prepared FRACAS reports for customer, along with specific program metrics and plots- Analyzed and evaluated damaged production parts and field/in-service parts using IR, SEM and microscopeMaterials & Processes: - Evaluated alternatives for corrosion prevention coatings, bond primers and adhesives for enterprise use through mechanical testing- Conducted failure analysis of electronic packages and devices- Tested and characterized 3D printed polymer materials; assessed the feasibility of incorporating these materials in production programs Show less
