Creative Anvil's work consisted of custom web applications, and marketing websites & print. My role here was a full-stack developer taking site designs from Photoshop and slicing the design in the HTML/CSS, doing the database design, the front-end and back-end development. We built applications for real-estate companies, e-commerce applications across several industries, and many other custom applications to meet client's needs. We also started the development of the Pipeline TMS, which later became a Prologue Technology product. Show less

After a very successful period with Product Support, the company moved me to the Advertising Technology Group. The business was entirely built on ad-revenue, and our primary objective was to determine what keywords would be the most profitable to use for every page of our catalogue of sites. I worked on a hadoop pipeline that would on-demand run calculations based on the site content of each site, for each keyword to figure out how we can optimize revenue. The Hadoop process involved 10+ steps, took over 8 hours to run utilizing 30 servers in-parallel.We were utilizing Hadoop back when it was fairly young, and the pipeline was written in JAVA.Technologies: Hadoop, JAVA, extJS, PHP, MySQL Show less The product support team was in charge of supporting all products company-wide. Common tasks we would tackle would include bug fixes, optimizations, and minor tweaks and improvements. Other teams would create the new functionality in an agile environment, and our team was in place to ensure what the other teams were creating would continue to work, allowing teams focused on new development not to be de-railed by fixing defects in previous sprints.Common technologies we worked with and supported: PHP, MySQL, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, and SOLR Show less

After Announce Media purchased Answers.com, I was offered the opportunity to join the integration team, and spent 1 month in Jerusalem working at Answers.com's headquarters, interacting with their current staff, and learning their product stack. After the integration period, I was added to the front-end team and our job was to make edits to the main question and answer pages as A/B tests in order to optimize ad click-through-rates.I also took the lead development role on a new pilot website for coupons (coupons.answers.com which is now defunct.)Technologies: PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Javascript, SOLR Show less

I was re-hired by Anvil Technology Partners (was Creative Anvil). The Pipeline TMS needed more attention as the client's using the system were growing, and I was the initial developer on the system and knew the product well. I was also able to walk into the job knowing the majority of the client's and products from when I was at Creative Anvil previously.I led the team from a technical perspective. Implemented project management software (Jira), changed the development strategy from a single-branch SVN methodology to a branch-per-feature GIT methodology. This dramatically improved releases, allowing us to deploy more often, with less bugs, and it gave us the ability to easily roll-back changes in production. We did many things to improve the Pipeline TMS in many ways, stabilizing the product, adding additional features, and re-skinning the entire application.
