  The research was done as part of the class ENG 315: LINC - Learning in Community with the focus on the project, “Engineers without Borders - Stored Energy Solar Cooker”, at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign. The main goal of the project was to develop and obtain all the information necessary to make a possible apparatus that could collect solar energy, which would be used to cook food for the target audience of poor communities in Mexico.The following activities were developed:- Scientific research and learning the basics of solar energy and suitable materials to store heat;- Scientific experiments at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, to determine the thermal properties of a variety of materials, aiming to evaluate their potential in the system;- Write weekly reports describing the activities performed and information developed, as well as writing the project proposal and the final report of the activities created by the whole team.   As Teaching Assistant, I supported the Professor Dr. Deise Carla Almeida Leite Dellova during the classes of Comparative Biology of Domestic Animals ("Biologia Comparativa dos Animais Domésticos"). The main responsibilities as teaching assistant were: - Assist in several lab activities, prepare class materials and equipment, teach students how to use laboratory equipment (microscopes, etc), and help students on how to properly write laboratory reports.- Evaluate students’ laboratory reports by using various criteria that supported the professor's final corrections. Send specific feedback on every report in order to help students improve their performance on the next report.- Developed and updated the course blog (http://biologiacomparativa.wordpress.com), which allowed the advancement of student education in the course by sharing the class materials, report colloquies of the laboratory activities and lectures presented in the class.   As Technological and Industrial Researcher at Solinova, I supported the project “Model for analysis of market potential for a central system of concentrated solar hybrid applied to the cooling industry” ("Modelo para análise de potencial de mercado para central de concentração solar hibrida aplicada à indústria frigorífica"), which was sponsored by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).The main responsibilities involved:- Conduct research on concentrated solar power technology through documents and equipment catalogs of the main components of the concentrated solar hybrid system;- Translate documents, e-mails and Excel spreadsheets from Portuguese to English and vice versa;- Develop a 3D demonstrative scenario on 3DMAX Studio, which highlighted the flux of energy and materials of the integration of the technology with agro industries, biodigesters, biofuel unity, and the electric grid.   As Engineering Trainee at DLR, I focused on optimizing the general operation of a hybrid concentrated solar tower power plant, which functions on sunlight and biofuels and releases electricity and heat processing - that can be utilized for industries in heating and/or cooling processes. The other accomplished goal was to determine the feasibility of implementing this technology in the Brazilian energy market, according to national environmental and economic factors.Activities completed included:- Thermodynamic analysis of the components of the hybrid concentrated solar tower power plant, including the study of previous similar projects, as SOLHYCO, USHYNE, etc;- Specific project design on different locations in Brazil according to factors such as weather, electric energy availability, type of demand and fuel price reality in individual areas;- Marketing analysis of the Brazilian energy business, heat and cooling demand, government regulations, as well as Brazilian environmental factors such as rates of irradiation, average temperature, etc.USP Agency of Innovation ("Agência USP de Inovação") sponsored this project.   As the CEO of Biossistec Jr, which is a student company designed to introduce professional activities to non-graduated students of Biosystems Engineering, I worked supporting projects to better manage the six directors, their departments and managers. - Regular meetings with the the six directors in order to discuss the departments' performance, analyze solutions for the project's complications, discuss new opportunities for the company's growth and setting future priority goals;- Events with new potential customers to prospect for new markets and partners;- Wrote the company's plan of goals ("Plano de Metas") for the next year, including new goals, projects, activities and new feedback systems. The document allowed a stable growth for the company considering the environment of new projects and employees’ capabilities.Other positions held at Biossistec Jr: Starting as a trainee in 2010, being promoted to manager, then to director in 2011.   As a Production Engineer at Bayer Crop Science, I worked delivering the Production Plan while promoting the new company’s Production System (MPS). The main KPI’s were frequently monitored at the Management System (DMS), where I led the daily meetings, supporting the Operation, Maintenance, Quality, HSE and Planning teams to also reach their goals. During the 3 years as Production Engineer my main deliveries and achievements were:- Lead the Monsanto Production System implementation in my area, including 5S, SMED, Visual Management and Change Management; - Manage 3 CAPEX projects (up to USD 1mi/each);- Develop new process' routes (delivering +15% the site’s theoretical capacity);- Deliver 2 Six Sigma and 1 OPEX projects focused on yield and productivity improvement (USD 540k savings/year validated by Finance);- Conduct and analyze Quality and Safety investigations.Besides the technical deliveries, I directly supported six operators, as their coach, accomplishing great development of their technical and behavioral skills.   As a Project Manager at Bayer Crop Science, I have been working to deliver the CAPEX portfolio, including the whole cycle from concept to the completion. The Cost, Scope and Schedule management are powered by a Hybrid methodology – including traditional PMI concepts along with Agile & Scrum principles and framework.During the current work as Project Manager my main deliveries and achievements are:- Lead strategical projects with 6+mi USD budget and IRR above 33%;- Lead a team with 7 direct employees and 50+ indirect staff;- Engage internal and external stakeholders to guarantee adherence to the Projects’ Plan;- Improve the management methodology, by creating new indicators for safety, schedule, people and 5S culture management.In 2021 I have been managing 14 projects – ranging from mechanical and structural revamps until highway access clover, warehouse constructions and advanced instrumentation for Industry 4.0. The Digital Transformation and Change Management tools were frequently used to reach KPI’s which beforehand were never achieved.During the 2 years as Process Engineer my main deliveries and achievements were:- Design the Advanced Manufacturing (AM2020) for 2 Site’s, including concepts of autonomous operation, real-time image analysis and Industry 4.0 for biological industry;- Break down the Site’s scorecard into sector’s and individual's goals;- Create and update the Site’s Value Stream Map (VSM), diagnosing opportunities to create new OPEX & CAPEX projects;- Manage the Site’s OPEX and Lean 6 Sigma projects, focused on increasing the yield, capacity and quality to reduce the reprocess and operational cost (USD 360k savings/year validated by Finance).Besides the technical deliveries, I formally trained and mentored 12 employees as Yellow Belts and 15 as White Belts – allowing every sector to have skilled staff to sustainably pursue the Continuous Improvement Show less
