VORP (Victim/Offender, Reconciliation Program) is also critical for the juvenile justice system between offenders and victim by bring the wrong to a balance and negotiating options and alternatives to make things right without costly court and attorney fees. The ADR and the RJ (Restorative Justice) process has brought a balance toward my career and of my consulting sector of my 'work in process' business by facilitating truancy issues in the juvenile justice system. Jul 1982 - Jan 2004
      Safety/Security

This period I proceeded with my security career where I worked in different areas such as Healthcare (four-years), Industrial (three-years) and Hospitality industries with many public events such as Artist security for musical events and local fairs (approximately 10-years). I have worked at this capacity on and off for 24 years where the remainder of the time was proprietary to the present time working as a school safety and security decision-maker monitoring social behaviors and emergency preparedness on the campus climate. This experience has exposed me to the growth of protection which I have grown to develop today exhibiting professional growth to accommodate my education. Show less

    • Recreation / Resort

      May 2002 - Aug 2003
Senior Ranger / Security Manager / Director of Loss Prevention

Proprietary Resort Rangers are often put in more difficult situations than not. Proprietary Resort Rangers do not have peace officer status; however they are constantly asked to perform many duties that a typical peace officer performs. Rangers are required to mitigate problems with uncooperative guests and calling the Sheriff’s department is the last resort. To be hired as a Park Ranger an applicant must have great communication skills and also have complete control of their emotions. Proprietary Resort Rangers respond to many incidents, including medical aids, fights, domestic disputes, thefts, parking problems, and violations of the resort’s rules and regulations, which include quite hours, no-weapons, or drugs with county ordinances in effect as well. Violations of quiet hours typically consist of large intoxicated groups. It takes a very focused person to walk into a large group of intoxicated individuals and convince them that it is in their best interest to be quite without the ability or liability to defend one-self with weapons, write citations, or arrest violators. Thousands of people stay at the Resort over the course of a year with the Sheriff’s department seldom called. As Supervising Ranger (Manager) I performed my job in a very professional manner. I accepted the responsibilities and executed those duties along with many administrative obligations, including the hiring of Ranger staff for the season (approximately 13 Rangers), staff scheduling, training, report writing, etc. I have worked alongside Rangers through some very difficult situations where building trust and respect from them to the fullest extent was paramount. Counseled youths at high-risk levels associated with gang membership or high-risk crimes. Mediation was used with conflict between each resident or anger management for youths experiencing low-self esteem and wanting to act out. Assess residents' daily activity and behavior and interview them of their behavior from the day rather it was positive or negative behavior at the end of the day and what alternatives, options, or other decisions that can be made for the next day to make it a better day. The goal was to address behaviors and addressing alternatives for those behaviors by associating them with options to make better choices as a 'behavior' modification tool on a day-to-day basis. I would like to take a minute to share an app with you and your district if I may that will make a difference in student accountability, suspensions, expulsions and safety in general. Are you familiar with SSICA (Scan Student Identification Card Authorization) application (www.drssica.com).I have been in the safety and security arena for 36-years with 11-years in the school system complementing my research is the staple of my career as the author of pending publication, 'The Silent Voice: Preparing Our Schools.' My academic achievements embrace school safety and security at both my undergraduate and graduate disciplines. First, earning two nominations from International Laureate Scholar Program to China and Europe, two recognitions for The National Deans List, President's Award and the highest degree of honor achieved from my graduate program, Lifetime member of the Criminal Justice Honor Society, Alpha Phi Sigma.I have personally used SSICA app and the accountability for students is the best. Since, my friend, my colleague, Dr. Pete Chavez President/CEO (drpchavez@gmail.com) of SSICA works diligent with his app to make it the best accountability tracking system for administrators and staff. Dr. Chavez explains, '........with the SSICA 2.0 app your school can use a smart phone, tablet, iPod, Mac, PC, or a Chromebook to process attendance, positive and negative behavior. K-12 schools can use SSICA in many ways because you can customize your Buttons (reasons why you are scanning).' Dr. Chavez adds, 'The schools using SSICA have seen a decrease in suspensions and expulsions. They also feel their schools are safe because SSICA can check if students are allowed on campus or not.' For more information go to www.drssica.com or call Dr. Chavez directly at (559) 393-7322 and inquire about a proposal and a free 30-day pilot. Calivs.com/ipod Show less
