      Project Manager

As one of six Project Managers in New Zealand selected to oversee a Central Government Joint Venture initiative, I managed a project that tested collaboration within the community focused on four key outcomes for young people: reducing offending, reducing truancy, decreasing alcohol and drug use, and increasing participation in education and training. This initiative, known as "Trialling New Approaches to Social Sector Change," aimed to encourage communities to collaborate more effectively in supporting these outcomes. My work involved extensive consultation with agencies, NGOs, and services, culminating in the development of a Community Action Plan with targeted outcomes. I coordinated Community Project Groups, each responsible for achieving one of the four youth outcomes. Progress on the plan was reported monthly and subsequently communicated to Ministers and Cabinet. As part of this Central Government Joint initiative, we received specialised training in media relations, integrated contracts through the Ministry (specifically "Results Based Accountability"), and monitoring and evaluation tools. The social sector trials informed the 2012 social reforms, leading to Ministers approving further trials in eight additional communities. Show less
