    • Doctors Care Colorado

      Jul 2016 - Jul 2021

I managed a department of 5 staff and 20+ volunteers and three distinct programs that worked to help individuals address barriers to health. In my tenure the team migrated from paper to digital files, to record keeping in the EMR instead of excel, and was the first department to implement virtual visits during the COVID-19 pandemic. I worked with the team to standardize and document protocols. I developed strategies to improve volunteer experience including desk schedules, policy binders, regular program team meetings, and daily checklists; created data reports using eCW eBO and excel for programmatic evaluation and predictive budgeting; and wrote grants and provided reporting for $1M in funds to support department activities.I was involved in efforts to help the organization respond to ongoing changes including membership on the quality improvement and pandemic response teams; participation in a year long “Equity Lab”, and membership on the strategic plan steering committee. Show less From a funder initiated idea, I developed a program to pay the health insurance premiums for individuals with cost barriers to maintaining health insurance. This included developing tools for screening people into the program; participant rules and agreements; detailed participant tracking; evaluation surveys; procedures for screening and enrolling participants, paying premiums to 5+ different insurance carriers monthly, and maintaining regular contact with clients; detailed budgeting; and regular reports to program funder. Volunteers and staff were then trained to support all program activities. Program success resulted in funder agreeing to fund 3 additional years of premiums for program participants after the initial pilot year for a total investment of $750,000. Show less

      Health Literacy Consultant

I provided expert health literacy content review and edits for a mulit-module diabetes training designed to be delivered to American Indian/Alaska Native groups. Modules were reviewed 3 times over the course of content development using the PEMAT - a scoring tool that looks at elements including difficulty of words, complexity of numbers, and usefulness of layout, figures, and images. The overall result was a training product easier for peer trainers to deliver and for trainees to consume to help promote improved diabetes health outcomes. Show less
