  I was posted in Iraq from 2002 to 2003. Best officers of the Army are selected to represent the country abroad. The job involved prevention of conflict between Iraq and Kuwait. I was involved in providing advisory assistance to diplomats in their discussion to broker peace and for conflict management and conflict resolution between the two countries.

  Headed the HR Branch of the Army Engineers from 2004-2007. Dealt with transfers and promotions of 3600 Army Engineer Officers. Involved very complex qualification matching, vacancy filling, movement timeframe, personal aspirations of each of the 3600 employees (like children education, health problems etc), manning of field areas and motivating unwilling officers, selecting the right man for the right job, screening for promotions, premature retirement and regular retirement, resettlement courses for retirees and managing the intake/ recruitment of officers. Pioneered the automation of the entire process, with help from Data Base professionals, as a result of which, a selection process which used to take almost 12 hours of work, now just took about 10 minutes. Awarded a medal for this achievement called Vice Chief of the Army Staff Commendation. Finally, managing perception of the environment was also one of the main charters.   Project Leading ExperiencePlanning.Headed Planning Team as Commanding Officer (~CEO) of an Engineer Regiment from 2007-2010.Planned, approved infrastructure related projects worth 25-30 Crores.Budgeting, costing using market surveyors.Prepared work programmes, schedules for monitoring and ensuring deadlines, using Primavera software.Headed 20-25 Engineers, 50 supervisors and 1070 skilled tradesmen to accomplish these.Monitored 275 work sites by interacting and persuading site managers fully accomplishing all deadlines.Projects UndertakenConceived, planned & supervised the construction of 75 prefabricated shelters & over 200 underground stone masonry bunkers with ancillaries (2007-2009).Constructed 4 km long canal with 9 metre water depth & 9 metre high embankment (for Army) at Amritsar.Built a 75 m long, 9 m deep Sandbag Dyke, in running river water, to replace a collapsed sluice gate in just 6 days.Constructed a school with 8 classrooms, offices & ancillaries in 1993.Planned & executed the excavation of a 36,500 sqm lake, using surplus ground water now called Shekhaji lake in Rajasthan (presently a minor bird haven), thus contributing to environmental upgradation.Set up a power station with 32 DG Sets (30 KVA each) to supply an Operations Centre of 800 KW load (2008). Constructed two Micro-Hydel Projects of 18.75 KW each at Leh by diverting a water channel for 12 km (1991).Supported the construction of two 450 m long aerial cableways in Leh (1992).Deeply involved in maintenance & repairs of Dozers, Wheel Dozers, Motor Graders, Excavator Loaders, 3-20 Ton cranes, and 200-250 trucks and SUVs for 20 years from 1990 to 2010. Dealt with rostering of qualified operators and training of new operators.Procurement.Headed a procurement cell for purchase of 5-10 crores worth of construction material annually.Issued engineering contracts and tender documents & ensured timely delivery and execution, after evaluating all technical bids.
