    • Annex Skate and Snow Inc.

      Nov 2009 - Dec 2015
      Company Owner

      • Developed our private label brand and all of its merchandise. This included skateboard hard goods, soft goods, and accessories. • Successful in growing the private label through source management. • I visited manufactures sites, worked with local artists and craftsmen to develop fresh ideas. • Regularly negotiated and renegotiated terms with suppliers and manufacturers, and I was consistently successful in those discussions.• Opened the margins by 17% on shop skateboard decks by negotiating new terms with my manufacturer offering quantity commitments that where easy for my store to sustain. • I was able to carry private label pants when no other skate shops could. Around 2009 cotton prices were high. Manufacturers of small private label items could not produce pants for what skate shops were used to paying. I visited the supplier that most skate shops use. I was able to negotiate the pants at a reasonable price, knowing that I was the only shop that would have them. • Doubled the profit margins and increased the quality of my Shop Tee Shirts through source management . Daily tasks consisted of:• Budget, plan and tracked towards those plans. • Analyze spending data and research cost savings opportunities.• Track industry trends and technologies to plan against. • Procure business needs; landscaping, snow removal, etc. Acquire new quotes and seek cost savings. • Manage vendor relationships. • Explore new items, displays, retail strategies, vendors, and any other possible improvements.• Build, train, and manage staff. • Handle all major Event/Party projects. Some with up to 1400 attendees including vendors, corporate sponsors, musicians, security/police, etc. This required juggling many parts, included all marketing materials, permitting, safety, setting up and tearing down. • Control every detail necessary for running a retail business: Inventory Control, Book Keeping, Customer Service, Planning, Buying, Maintenance and more.
