      Field Biologist working for the USFS researched black and brown bears in remote inlets in Alaska. Recorded behavioral and anatomical data. Researched rare sea birds, and collected data on wolves and other local wildlife. Guided visitors to the Anan bear observatory safely to a bear viewing area, interpreted bear behavior at viewing area.

      Education and Animal Behavior Specialist

      Education Specialists enriched animal enclosures for the large carnivores (bears and large cats) and interpreted animal behavior to the public with presentations. Created more desirable enclosure situations, working with the animal behavior team, to elicit more natural behaviors for the polar bears, sun bears, spectacled bears, brown bears, jaguars, African lions, leopards, caracals, sea lions, and other small carnivores.

      The Science Specialist helped to raise, train, manage, and handle exotic rehabilitated wildlife from golden eagles, to alligators, to arctic foxes and everything in between. Brought animals to Bay Area schools to educate kids in K-12 about wildlife conservation using live animal assemblies and small group gatherings.

      SF Zoo carnivore keepers work in the Lion house with the large cats and also with the polar, black, and brown bears. Duties included feeding the animals (polar bears, sun bear, grizzly bears, sea lions, tigers, African lions) and cleaning their enclosures. Public interpretation was also part of the position, as well as training volunteers and youth.

The ED upholds Pepperwood's values of integrity, inclusion, and innovation, serving as a cultural steward. They foster alignment and collaboration across departments to maximize impact and efficiency. The ED represents Pepperwood in public forums and forge community partnerships to advance the mission.Additionally, they collaborate with the Leadership Team to identify and evaluate program and revenue opportunities. The ED also ensures proper stewardship of the and-based resources and facilities in coordination with the COO and Preserve Manager, including reserve planning and disaster preparedness. Show less Pepperwood's Education Director is responsible for leading a strategic expansion of Pepperwood's community impact through education and outreach in Sonoma county and the larger San Francisco Bay Area. She is a key collaborator between the research, preserve management, communications, and develoment teams. The Education Director supervises a core team of six educators, outreach specialists, and artists. Key responsibilities include growing financial resources through grantmaking and strategic donor relationships. The mission of Pepperwood is to "inspire a conservation through science" and the Education Director leads her team by example and is committed to fostering a love of science, natural history and the arts and connection to the land.
