Scouted for material and reported on new evolutions in terms of destinations, mode of transports, hotel properties and other related aspects.

  Worked with several organizations during this time period. Between 1986-1991 I was associated with UAE Business Directory as Regional Manager, in Kolkata and from 1991-1995, did freelancing with Allied Publishers, New Delhi wherein was involved in proof reading and editing of manuscripts.During the entire time period of 1982- 1995, I was engaged in writing articles on topics related to environment, family planning, women and children for various professional magazines.

  Handled all editorial responsibilities from writing, editing, identifying themes/issues, commissioning articles from senior journalists /subject specialists to finalizing layout and design for Vidura (quarterly journal dealing with media and communications issues) and Grassroots (monthly newspaper on development issues).Actively supported newly started RTI movement in terms of creating awareness on same. Invited groups of journalists for field visits to villages in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand to witness first hand, activists fighting for the act and later report on same in Vidura & Grassroots.   Founded MICCI as an initiative for spearheading development of media and dissemination of information in South Asia within the broad framework of economic, social and cultural milieu. The primary mandate is organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, research and publications in the field of media, with a national and international focus.Over the years, appointed Chapter Heads across states for organizational activities. Conducted regular annual interactions with media professionals from all South Asian countries on development, economic. political and cultural issues.Notable Achievements: For the first time ever, judicial accountability was initiated by MICCI. The forum was successful in getting Truth admitted as evidence in cases of contempt of court. This was later quoted in the Sri Lanka Parliament. Also, MICCI was instrumental in shelving the draconian Broadcast Bill brought out by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Show less

  Joined the organization with aim of re-branding and establishing the center as a modern, recreational & environmental friendly facility popular for hosting seminars/conferences/programs on an international platform.Heading 3 critical areas: administration & planning, program organization and infrastructure development & maintenance. Conceived and organized 500+ seminars, workshops & conferences involving the civil society, students, social activists, scientists, government and media on issues like, terrorism, human development, RTI (Right to Information), social media, women in media, role of judiciary in strengthening democracy and more. Handled all pertaining activities from conceptualizing issue/topic to identification of participants, evolving the themes/speakers/discussants to bringing out the final publication.In addition to above, organized other activities like film workshops, art camps, crafts exhibition, book reading sessions, debates, talks on yoga, health, waste management & ozone therapy.Revamped the center by identifying infra shortcomings and executing renovation and up-gradation projects for same.Implemented several environmental initiatives like installing of composting units/recycling station, water harvesting, fire hydrant systems, additional power saving garden lights, bird bath installations & tree plantations amongst others.Sorted and streamlined administration processes; revamped official website, cleared pending salary revisions & introduced employee engagement activities. Implemented ISO 9001:2008 and successfully completed the first surveillance audit. Focused efforts on promoting center brand name through appropriate PR and media exercises.Goa Arts & Literary Festival – Conceptualized, founded and heading the same in partnership with Goa Writers Group since 2010. The festival’s aim is to bring together celebrities & creative personalities from fields of art & literature on a common platform and position Goa on literary map. Show less

  My responsibilities with this program include maintaining and update of the website and creating awareness on sustainable development for women in South Asia through the media. Also, organized South Asia Women in Media conference in Goa in 2011.The program is a platform bringing together women leaders and activists from the fields of microcredit, education, arts and literature, peacemaking, environment, health, crafts, textiles and media to collaborate on various issues across South Asia.
