  Internship for MD Thesis in Cristina Airoldi’s group (bioOrg NMR lab at University of Milano-Bicocca). Combining NMR and UPLC-HR-MS the identification of ligands of biomedical relevance and preliminary characterization of their biological activity were achieved. In particular, selected bioactive plant extracts were tested for their ability to prevent Aβ1-42 peptide aggregation and neurotoxicity in a neuronal human cell line. The detailed identification of the molecules responsible for the anti-amyloidogenic activity was assessed by NMR. Show less

  Scientist in Jesús Jiménez-Barbero’s lab (Chemical Glycobiology lab). International double doctorate obtained with honors. PhD in cotutelle between the University of Basque Country (Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry program) and the University of Milano-Bicocca (Converging Technologies for Biomolecular Systems program). Research project focused on exploring molecular recognition events of biomedical interest involving glycans. Structure-based and fragment-based drug discovery were applied targeting different lectin-sugar systems, selected considering their involvement in pathological phenomena (cancer and infectious diseases mainly). The fine details of the binding events have been decoded employing a multidisciplinary approach (NMR, ITC, cryo-EM, MD simulations, FACS, and genomic engineering) from the structural, conformational, and dynamic points of view.
