      Mechanical Engineering Trainee

In order to qualify with my National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, I had to serve one year In-service experience as a Mechanical Engineering Intern.I served my one year In-service with Durban University of Technology – Composite Research Group. Where I had to research Composite materials by manufacturing composites and running various test on the composites, tests such as Tensile test, Impact test, Hardness test and Wear test. To monitor how the properties of the composites reacted when changing their composition of the composite and the direction of the fibres etc. Show less

      Apr 2018 - May 2019
      Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Working for Group Five (Contractor) has allowed me to be part of the 1 Billion project, which is to upgrade the Darvill Wastewater Treatment plant. My involvement in this project is thus of a Graduate Mechanical Engineer and my duties are set out are to coordinate the MEIP (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Piping) construction works. Thus my tasks include me liaising with sub-contractors in terms of design review as per technical specifications, procurement tracking, monitoring installations and writing up of O&M (Operating & Maintenance) manuals, as well Commissioning manuals and the actual commissioning of the plant. The experience gained is exciting, as the works happening on the plant are multidisciplinary. Thus exposing me to Instrumentation, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Process Engineering. This stimulates me as an aspiring Professional Engineer to value and learn how all the disciplines interphase together to bring about a complete engineering project. My responsibilities and roles were focused to those of a Commissioning Engineer. In which I would safely handover the plant to the client. Show less
