Trajectory Analyst (NASA Mission Control Center)

I worked for TRW Systems in the Real Time Auxiliary Computing Facility in the NASA Mission Control Center in Houston during Apollos 7 through 12. I provided real-time trajectory, systems, and computational support of the Apollo lunar landing missions. I computed multiple trajectory and system related items such as mass properties (center of gravity), orbital and mid-course maneuvers, return to earth maneuvers, rendezvous maneuvers, guidance optics look angles, inertial platform reference matrices, re-entry simulations, astronaut radiation exposure, and astronaut EVA heat load. Dec 1969 - Aug 1975
      System Engineer

1969-1975 (leave for graduate school August 1971- January 1973) - Systems Engineer in the development of air traffic control automation for the FAA. I worked at the FAA's Experimental Center in Atlantic City, NJ from 1969 to 1971. After returning from receiving my master's degree at MIT, I worked in the McLean, VA office. I worked on the development of the first computerized en route air traffic control system. I was given the task of redesigning the radar controller computer input. Developed the first electronic tabular display design for the D-controller. Worked on studies of computer workload requirements for flight data processing. Wrote test plans for evaluating changes in the en route system. Conducted studies of numerous small items such as weather display, trackball display errors, and change from magnetic to true north alignment. Also worked several hours every two weeks from 1982 to 1987 as an engineer advising on air traffic control input and display while practicing medicine full time.MIT Show less
