  Electrician

  I completed my apprenticeship with Chesterfield Electrical and Mechanical Services. Contracts were varied, from 1 month to 12 months and I carried out domestic, commercial and industrial work. I started my training on domestic re- wires and new builds, this provided me with the basic knowledge of the industry. I planned, re-wired and certified all the works for a period of 18 months. Once my skills were developed I carried out works on commercial projects varying from, shop design and installation to luxury apartment blocks. Industrial work was occasionally required to be performed and this helped me understand all aspects of the electrical trade. This was the pattern of my training for the four years as an apprentice. I also worked on a constant maintenance team, fault finding and rectifying faults in hospitals, nursing homes and schools.Some examples of my work are a 12 month contract to wire, fit off and test, 171 luxury apartments with a communal car park, from start to finish. Design, wire and test 23 new build solar panel homes. My job also involved:· Domestic, commercial & industrial installation· Containment installation· Fitting of accessories· Reading, understanding and implementing electrical drawings · Catering to client needs· Consultation with clients· Time management for completion of works· Dealing and handling materials lists· Customer relations· Testing and fault finding· Management and training of lower level apprentices· Taking care and respecting company plant· Responsibility for company vehicle and transporting staff.
