  The aim of the study was to develop a stable and effective parenteral formulation of Hyoscine Butyl Bromide, a quaternary ammonium derivative with anti-muscarinic and anticholinergic activity used to relieve smooth-muscle spasm in gastro-intestinal and genitourinary disorders with the minimum cost. To achieve this, various trials were carried out and best formulations were evaluated for its stability and efficacy. Plan of the work as follows: Performed Pre-formulation studies of the drug. Performed Excipient-Drug Compatibility studies. Performed different formulation trials with various excipients at different optimum concentrations. Carried out different evaluation studies to select the comparatively stable formulations. Carried out accelerated stability studies according to ICH guidelines, on the selected formulations to evaluate its stability and efficacy for longer shelf life. Final formulation was scaled up and manufactured under the Class 1 and Class 100 GMP guidelines. The product was then compared with market formulations in terms of stability, efficacy and cost effectiveness. Show less
