      In 2011 Helen joined the pensions team at Burges Salmon as an Associate and continued to build on her experience, working with both employers and trustee clients. This included advising small, medium and large occupational pension schemes on: • Sectionalisation and merger of pension schemes • Salary sacrifice • The recent Government changes from RPI to CPI • Conversion of benefits to CARE or to pure DC benefits including implementation advice and amending documentation • Company sales including negotiating via clearance with the Pensions Regulator for relevant mitigation and approved withdrawal arrangements • Public sector pensions issues following TUPE transfers and the “Fair Deal” • Consolidation of trust deed and rules as well as other amending documentationHelen was the assisting lawyer advising the Trustees of the QinetiQ Pension Scheme during the funding negotiations relating to one of the key cases of 2012, QinetiQ vs. Danks & Ors.       As a Senior Associate at Foot Anstey, Helen advises employers, trustees and pension providers on all aspects of pensions law. This includes advice in connnection with both occupational schemes in the public and private sector as well as personal pension scheme matters. Recent advice includes strategic advice on pension scheme closures and harmonisation exercises as well as drafting and reviewing pension scheme documentation. Helen also recently advised a board of trustees in connection with a scheme buy-in of pensioner liabilities as part of a liability reduction exercise. Helen supports a number of employers and contractors looking to employ public sector employees as a result of outsourcing arrangements. Helen also has a number of local authority clients for who she provides pensions support throughout the outsourcing tender process. Within the financial services sector, Helen has advised a number of FCA regulated pension providers on the terms of their pension arrangements including the flexible drawdown provisions introduced in April 2015 as well as the wider tax regulatory regime applicable to registered pension schemes. Helen's clients also include charities who participate in non-associated multi-employer schemes looking to manage their pension scheme deficits. Show less
