  My main responsibilities included caring for all residents with activities of daily living. This involved assisting residents with dressing, helping them with showering and bathing, escorting them to and from meals, as well as other things they needed help with. I was trained and certified to administer medications, including narcotics, to all residents so each shift involved a medication pass. I also charted all information on medications and cares that were completed.

  My duties at Altru involved participating in skills and cares I will be doing in my future career as a Registered Nurse. These included helping patients with daily basic needs including ambulation, bathing, dressing, etc. Other duties included administering medications, assessing patients, as well performing skills like dressing changes and suture removal as needed. There were certain duties not allowed by law without RN licensure, but I shadowed nurses for these skills and learned by visualization. I also performed daily charting in the electronic health record, EPIC, with co-signatures from the nurse. Show less
