      Acting Captian for the Reading Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division. This position requires the managing of all major cases such as homicides, aggravated assaults , sex crimes, and any other crimes that required follow up investigations. I also oversaw the Vice Division, and it's operations. I supervised one lieutenant , 3 sergeants , and approximately 25 detectives. I was also responsible for reporting on the status of all the department's major crimes investigations at our Crime Status Meetings. This position also required coordinating with all of the outside agencies mentioned below plus several others. Show less Reading Police lieutenant in charge of the department's Vice Division . Responsible for all undercover operations, all of the department's drug forfeitures, and confidential funds. I was also responible for keeping track of the Vice division's stats and reporting on them at our monthly Crime Status Meetings. This position also required coordinating with many outside agencies such as the Berks County DA's office , the PA State Police, FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE, and Department of Homeland Security. I was responsible for 1 sergeant and about 6 investigators. Show less I was one of 3 sergeants who were tasked with supervising our Criminal Investigations Division. Our duties included assigning cases to our investigators, assist with investigating major crimes, and even taking on our own case loads. I was also initially tasked with reducing burglaries, and after making gains in this area, I was given the task of reducing our robberies. As a Criminal Investigations Sergeant you had keep up to date on all the current major crimes investigations and be prepared to give accurate and up to date status reports at our Crime Status Meetings. Show less I was the day shift Desk Sergeant , which if done correctly , is probably the busiest position in the department. It is essentially the front desk for City Hall and it is where most of the citizens come first when seeking assistance . In addition to the Desk Sergeant is responsible for seeing that all the calls are screened and properly dispatched to the officers. As a desk sergeant, you are also the first line of supervision for the Communications Division which typically involved the supervison of about 4-5 civilians, and 1 sworn officer. Show less I was promoted to sergeant and I was immediately assigned to our department's C platoon/ 3-11 shift , where I was the first line supervisor for about 10 officers. I was also one of three first line supervisors assigned to help manage crime reduction initiatives in the City's Southeast quadrant. As a result I was responsible for reporting the quadrant's crime stats as well as the results of any a crime reduction activities that were conducted in the quadrant. These were reports had to be done in a concise and timely manner, so that the quadrant commander could present the information at our bi-monthly Crime Status Meetings. Show less
