  Exodus club in Wellington was where I began my Personal training career. It was extremely challenging as I was self employed and had no support in growing my own business. I had to find and manage my own clients and finances. Dealing with an extremely wide range of individuals all with different needs and personalities, making sure as well as meeting my business goals that each client also reached their fitness goals. I strengthened my business by learning different skills such as boxing and massage. I had to have perfect time management skills to be able to juggle 35 hours of one-on-one training per week. My communication skills had to be top quality. Spending between 1 and 3 hours per week with each client for 3 years I got to know each of them really well, their families, work, injuries, workouts and diets. Show less

  Of all the jobs I have had this was the most sales intensive. We had to set specific financial goals at the beginning of each month and create a plan of how to achieve this by the end of each month. I received a lot of coaching on overcoming objections. It was a great challenge, as I had to once again build my business from nothing. One of the biggest things I learnt was understanding the difference of cultures and procedures between New Zealand and Canada, A skill which I have been able to improve upon now that I’m living in multicultural Auckland. I was taught how process lending applications, gathering information on a customers financial situation, ability to service loans and making sure they had financial protection with personalised insurance products. It was where found out how much customer satisfaction was important in our industry and how your actions and knowledge can affect your customer.

This has given me the ability to have in-depth conversations with my customer to find products which best suit their needs.
