      Mar 2009 - Jan 2013
      Assistant Manager

I started working at the 85 bedroom hotel as a receptionist and gradually worked my way up to the position of assistant manager. I was responsible for daily cashing up and banking, bookings, room allocation, staff schedules, wage reports, health and safety training for staff, advertising and customer service. I helped oversee the reception, bar, waiting and housekeeping staff and sat on the monthly head of department meetings. In the manager's absence and holidays I was left with full responsibility for the hotel. The hotel regularly had between 140-165 guests every week so the level of logistics was quite intense. The guests mainly came on coaching holidays so there were regularly situations where I had to deal with high numbers of people at once, teaching me the importance of prioritisation and finding a fast solution while keeping calm under pressure.
