  My father started his very own auto and farm repair shop in 1982. Growing up he taught me how to repair automobiles and small engines. By no means have I worked here for 10 years full-time, this was a part time job whenever I could help out. The extent of my abilities ranged from changing oil and sweeping floors, to replacing head gaskets and adjusting engine timing. Most importantly, he taught me what it takes to succeed in life; hard work, dedication, and quality workmanship.   Production Engineering Intern

  Gecom specializes in production of automobile latches for Honda, Toyota, and Ford. While working as an intern my first summer, I created start-up check sheets for all manufacturing stations. These helped the associates perform change-overs quicker and more efficiently. During the 2008 internship, I maintained an automated production line. I was involved with radio frequency identification, laser eyes, and automated vision systems. In the office, I created flow charts and updated control manuals.   I helped maintain an introductory thermodynamics lab which included HVAC equipment, an ERV system, and an environmental chamber. We also collected solar energy through a 3 KW photovoltaic array and eight propylene glycol thermal collectors. All the data was monitored through web-based control software by Automated Logic and WebCTRL.

  Engineering Manager

  I helped lead Purdue University's entry into the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2011. For two years, I helped lead a group of undergraduate and graduate students design, build, test, and showcase the INhome. The INhome finished 2nd place overall in the 2011 Solar Decathlon in Washington D.C. In summary, the INhome showcased affordable, net-zero energy housing through typical midwestern style housing.

  Engineering Intern

  I worked as an mechanical engineering intern which duties included performing duct sizing, pressure calculations, building loads, and etc. I also executed many field visits to client facilities, while taking measurements and proposing feasible solutions. I became very fluent with AutoCAD while marking up drawings in a fast-paced environment. Lastly, I developed an understanding of how a true MEP design firm is operated.

  I help teach an entry level undergraduate thermodynamics course in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I am in charge of four laboratory sections where students are engaged with hands on thermodynamic experiments. Experiments range from First Law open systems, convection heat transfer, and the Rankine cycle.
