      I coordinated the Waco Even Start Family Literacy Program which included GED/ESL classes, Early Childhood Education Classes, Parent Education classes, Interactive Literacy Activities, and Home Visits. We collaborated with AVANCE Waco and McLennan Community College Adult Education Department and primarily served the Hispanic population in Waco.

      I completed my Master's of Social Work Advanced Practice Internship at the City of Waco Housing and Community Development Department. I focused my efforts on socioeconomic development, specifically the creation of a Community Development Bank or Community Development Credit Union in Waco to serve individuals and communities in poverty. I also started working to develop a collaborative microcredit program in Waco that would be housed in an already existing agency. Finally, I conducted focus groups with youth living in poverty to gain a better understanding of life in Waco from their perspective. Show less
