The GO Teams successfully turned San Diego County Democratic in 2008, helped to elect Democrats to all statewide offices in 2010, partnered with a broad coalition to elect Democrats for San Diego Mayor, San Diego County Supervisors, and Congress in 2012, in addition to successfully passing a local proposition to raise money for the San Diego Unified School District.       In June 2014, Dr. Mike (Michael) McQuary won the nomination election for District C of the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD), which represents the coastal communities of La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Midway, Linda Vista, Old Town, and parts of downtown San Diego. He won the November 2014 General Election with 138,604 votes, the largest number of votes of any candidate on the ballot except those running for statewide office. The San Diego Unified School District has more than 133,000 students, 11,000 children of military families, 6,500 teachers, 225 schools, 51 public charter schools, $1.2 billion annual budget, and $5 billion voter approved school bonds. In round numbers, the SDUSD spends close to $4 million a day to support excellent instruction in every classroom, quality schools in every neighborhood, outstanding support services across the district, in what will become the finest school district in the nation.The SDUSD is the second largest school district in California and the twentieth largest school district in the nation, and it is in the eighth largest city and fifth largest county in the USA.
