      Electrical Engineer

Senior member of a technically diverse team that was able to rapidly respond to NASA-wide requests for low-cost, high-quality special measurement systems, mission support software, and custom hardware design. My primary responsibilities were: • Working with a team of engineers and programmers to develop enterprise software for data acquisition, distribution, and analysis of rocket engine test data.• Design of field-deployable data acquisition systems for a wide variety of measurements, including: temperature, pressure, flow, heat flux, acoustic pressure, and ignition overpressure.• Development of software to automate the health and configuration management of Stennis Space Center’s test facilities and assets. Major Projects and Roles (see Project Section for details):• Lead Engineer - Integrated Systems Health Management, August 2005 - January 2011• Lead LabVIEW Developer - Ares Launch Acoustics Test, 2010• Lead LabVIEW Real-Time/FPGA Developer - Shuttle Fuel Valve Testing, 2009• LabVIEW Developer and Ground Based Systems Engineer - NASA Engineering and Safety Center - Max Launch Abort System, 2008 - 2009• LabVIEW Real-Time/FPGA Developer and Systems Engineer - Smart and Intelligent Sensor Payload Technology Demonstrator, 2008 - 2009• Instrumentation Engineer - NASA Engineering and Safety Center - Vehicle Assembly Building Quantity Distance Study, 2007• LabVIEW Developer and Test Engineer - Methane Thruster Testbed Project, 2005 - 2006 Show less

      Apr 2011 - May 2015
      Senior Electrical Engineer

Software architect and technical lead for a team of 8 LabVIEW and web programmers developing the NASA Data Acquisition System (NDAS). This suite of LabVIEW and web-based applications replaced the proprietary system used on the rocket engine test facilities at NASA's Stennis Space Center (SSC) with a hardware-independent, government off-the-shelf solution. Along with high-level design of the seven applications and toolkits in the NDAS suite, I also managed quality assurance of all LabVIEW code changes - on average this was 3-4 feature branch code reviews per two week sprint from the 6 LabVIEW developers on the team. Using the code review process, internal "How To" postings, and informal "lunch and learn" sessions I coached the team in general software engineering techniques (source code control, bug tracking, Scrum techniques) as well as tools, techniques, and best practices for LabVIEW development. As a result of this mentoring, 4 of the developers recently passed the Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer test and took the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam (results pending). In addition to my role as software architect, I was the chief advocate for instituting Agile Methodologies and the use of modern development tools at Stennis. I started a pilot program to use Git, bug tracking software, and Scrum on the NDAS project. Within a year the procedures and tools used during the pilot were incorporated into Stennis’ standard procedures for software development.Major Projects and Roles (see Project Section for details):• Software Architect and Lead LabVIEW Developer - NASA Data Acquisition System, April 2011 to May 2015• Measurement Engineer - Air Blast Overpressure Analysis of the E1 Test Stand, 2012• LabVIEW Real-Time/FPGA Developer - Cryogenic Tank Calibration System, 2012 Show less
