    • Associates Capital Bank Inc

      Oct 1996 - Dec 1997
      Credit Analyst

Associates Capital Bank (The Associates) financed commercial credit lines on behalf of clients such as Amoco (now BP) and Texaco. The lines were tied to company credit card accounts used to purchase gasoline and other fuels at point-of-sale locations nationwide. In this role I reviewed business credit applications as well as individual credit information to determine maximum credit lines or decline credit requests. I exceeded the daily quota of credit application reviews consistently and often requested more information from applicants such as financial statements to assist in the credit decision for those request that were on the cusp of approval. • Corbis

      Jan 1998 - Jun 1999
      Accounts Receivable Specialist

A particularly vulnerable point in the sales process and customer relationship management is taking care of receivables once the revenue cycle has begun. I enjoyed working in a sales-centric way to reduce outstanding receivables substantially by fostering strong relationships with key accounting personnel within each of our customers' organizations. Reconciling cash receipts against credit card sales on a daily basis was also a critical responsibility where I was able to reduce errors significantly and prevent losses due to chargebacks and disputes. • 3 Builders Plus

      Sept 1999 - Apr 2001
      Project Lead

3 Builders Plus was a general contracting company specializing in custom-home and commercial construction. Essential duties included scheduling material deliveries and subcontractors as well as labor assignments. It was an excellent opportunity to lead by example and focus on every aspect of management from budgets to logistical challenges. Building is definitely a process-based endeavor and I quickly learned where the bottlenecks were for projects and how to minimize "pain points" where cost overruns tend to occur. Show less

    • Export Computer Exchange

      Jun 2001 - Jul 2003
      Shipping Manager

Export Computer Exchange is a global marketer of wholesale computer equipment to clients worldwide. The majority of exports were done by container load. There were dozens of shipments monthly from vendor warehouses across the United States exporting to markets in Asia, South America, Europe and Africa. My responsibilities included booking requests with freight forwarders, coordinating loading times at vendor warehouses, and trucking appointments for container loading. My job also included researching routing, transit times and freight pricing--skills that have helped me greatly in the freight forwarding business. Export Computer Exchange was expanding rapidly at that time and it was a great experience to have been there in those early days. Show less

    • Southern Export Services Inc
