      Designed a specialized 10 week curriculum for at-risk special education students in the South Bronx and Queens. Developed a creative writing curriculum that resulted in the publication of book with their poems and stories, a CD recording of the students singing the music from the curriculum, and a boost in their test scores.

      - Filmmaker - directed and produced multiple short films, promotional videos, an award-winning feature film and music videos. Gemma traveled around the globe for 10 years with nothing with her guitar and backpack and captured film and interviews of inspirational women, groups and organizations doing amazing work in promoting peace and providing clean water and sanitation. She recently produced, starred in, music produced Christmas Freak which won several best film and music awards at various film festivals around the globe.- Movement Builder - mobilized groups in over 100 cities in 60 countries to sing "We Rise", a rousing anthem about rising from tragedy, in response to 9/11. Groups from around the world formed an unprecedented Million Voice Choir on Sept 21, 2004 in celebration of the UN International Day of Peace.- Music Producer and Performer - released 3 albums, co-written and produced an award-winning movie soundtrack and composed an award winning song that mobilized an unprecedented global peace movement. She has performed in over 40 countries. - Solo Performer - Wrote and performed shows covering themes exploring cultural challenges as a first generation Filipina-American/Woman of Color and the need to fit into a different culture and finding empowerment through diversity Show less

      The Global Women’s Water Initiative, a project of Earth Island Institute, transforms women from passive recipients of failed community water and projects to local WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) experts and social entrepreneurs . - Conceived and designed a hands-on multi-year technical program training grassroots women to solve their own local WASH issues and professionalizing their services- Trainees exceeded expectations building 7x more WASH technologies than were seed funded by GWWI, mobilized the equivalent of $300,000 from their communities and other funding sources to implement their projects tripling GWWIs seed funds,, and increased their income by 3x- Trainees were recruited as COVID health officials combating myths and misinformation of the pandemic because of their deep knowledge of hygiene, sanitation and community health.https://www.globalwomenswater.org/ Show less

Spearheaded a 3-pillar strategy to equip students, local non-profit leaders, and emerging global social entrepreneurs with industry tools and essential evidence-informed interventions to maximize social impact. - Trained over 200 leaders from over 150 social impact companies and organizations to excel in impact evaluation, measurement and storytelling- Educated and coached over 500 students in social innovation and entrepreneurship where student-founded companies received start-up investments.
