      At DGI I was able to view their infrastructure, and view how a start-up company works compared to a corporate atmosphere. I learned to use a few open-source tools during my internship at the software based company. I learned how to use NAGIOS, a network monitoring tool used for monitoring of host resources (processor load, disk usage, etc.). It also allowed me to develop further service checks within the infrastructure. I also learned about VMware, which helped me learn about virtual network environments for testing. Open source applications and operating systems, were used for day-to-day operations, and my previous knowledge of Linux and command line were complementary to the work given. Show less
