      Established and managed the finance organization for Newmont's new Suriname subsidiary. Key duties including accounting, finance, local treasury, IT, SOX, audit support, staff development, business process design, ERP implementation and training, integration with regional South America division, development and maintenance of fixed assets, project costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, audit support and period/annual financial close. Highlights: Successfully implemented the financial operations for the new startup subsidiary which was delivered on time & under budget by $174M.  Implemented a full SOX framework in fifteen months.  Accelerated the close cycle by two days. Successfully integrated operations of this new subsidiary into the South American division. Hired and trained a full staff of Suriname Nationals as accountants and transaction processors. Drove the successful implementation of SAP for Suriname business unit including blueprinting, business process re-engineering, testing & acceptance, change management and end user adoption. Show less As Director of Corporate Accounting, I was responsible for managing the accounting function for Newmont's corporate headquarters including general ledger, benefits, inter-company and fixed assets. As Global Business Process Owner for Payroll, I was responsible for developing and maintaining global standards for payroll including SOX compliance, ensuring all global regions remained in compliance with the global payroll standards, partnering with Human Resources for benefit & compliance updates and interfacing with the Global SAP IT Support Team for all enhancements and other changes in the SAP environment. I was also directly responsible for corporate payroll (including global expatriates and retirees) spanning both multi-state and multi-national legal environments and containing complex elements such as diverse benefit and stock compensation plans. Highlights:  Led the development and delivery of a combined HR/Payroll solution for the new Suriname subsidiary which was delivered in a six month window. Remediated operational and staff issues in the payroll team restoring operational effectiveness.  Partnered with the Global Controller to reduce the close cycle by two days.
