      Subject:Experimental quantum optics and quantum information processing with trapped ionsThe task of my research project was the planning and technical design of a cryogenic ultra-high vacuum setup for experiments with trapped ions in the fields of quantumoptics and quantum information processing, as well as the characterization and operation of the setup.Among other things my work included:* Preparation of a list of requirements based on previously built experiments and conceptual expansion to cryogenic temperatures by integrating a flow cryostat* Design of the necessary components using CAD Software (Solidworks, KiCad)* Communication with distributors and selection of materials* Communication with the mechanical Workshop during the fabrication process* Assembly of the ultra-high vacuum setup, the infrastructure for the operation of a flow cryostat, as well as optical and electronic components for the experiment.* Operation of the setup and execution of experiments with trapped ions* Co-supervision of students working in the team Weniger anzeigen

      Working as part of a Team on MISTRAL, Scienta Omicron's control software for comfortable, easy and safe operation of complex Ultra-High-Vacuum (UHV) systems for scientific and industrial research, mainly in the field of nano and surface technolgies. The software development spans the range from low level direct control services for individual hardware components using TwinCAT3/PLC to the graphical interface for the end user for operating the whole system.
