Their data collection tools enable them to merge cross-industry intelligence to provide deeper insight into current markets, creating future opportunities for growth. Nielsen engineering group, works to collect survey data of engineering devices (like TV,Radio, Computer, Mobiles etc). The data is encoded through a metering device placed in the Computer/ Radio/ TV-Set top box, and uploaded through the internet. This encoded data is in the form of wave files, which are processed and decoded at our end.Job Profile: Perform Black box test execution, by understanding the application and writing test cases in QC. Execute the test cases by following directions given in QC. Pick the data files, process them, compare the output and log the results. Test the software for memory consumption, fidelity lost (or retained), time consumed per run, etc. by running it multiple times. This involves writing Bourne Shell scripts (.sh, .bash) which would execute on Cygwin(software) on windows and batch files (.bat ) which would be run from command prompt on windows. Also we would have to configure and execute the QTP scripts (prepared by another team). The writing of scripts is important for executing multiple runs and to lessen the effort for regression. Show less I did my ILP (initial Learning programme of TCS) at Trivandrum, and was awarded the ILP topper position.The specialization assigned to me was MainFrames : Cobol, DB2, CICS, REXX. The basic SDLC training was done on a language called Dr Scheme.In this Initial Learning Program, we learnt about Software development life cycle and other softwareengineering concepts. We were also made to write Procedural and Object Oriented Programs on theprogramming language Scheme. Other than this, we learnt using COBOL, DB2, CICS and REXX. Show less

  I work for the company's own products OPTIMA and IVLP. The Optima tool helps to create the tables, load telecom data into them from raw files, and display reports on the Performance related parameters in the data. My task with Optima was to test whether the changes customized for some service provider is working fine or not.The IVLP tool helps to generate reports on the Configuration related data. Here my task is of a Pl-SQL developer - I need to help the testers in verifying the reports, as well as to fix the report queries. Show less
