This is a waterbased wood preservative that contains copper and organic biocides as an alternative to the Chromated copper arsenate (CCA) product that had been used for timber treatment since the mid-1930s.During my employment I was involved in research for testing various additives, which has led to the improvement of the penetration properties of wood preservatives in treat-resistant timbers.   Based within the College of Engineering, I develop funding opportunities for strategic projects such as the new £35m research institute IMPACT (WEFO ERDF) and the ASTUTE Factory of the Future (Swansea Bay City Deal). My team and I work closely with academics from the College to secure research funding from UK and EU. My role involved the planning and initiation of collaborative research projects as well as representing the Marine Energy Research Group both in the UK and abroad. Successful in securing external research funding for the MERG team from various sources including Horizon 2020, ERDF, EPSRC, Innovate UK, Sêr Cymru.
