The dutch painter Catharina de Rijke lives in the Rhineland and works in Cologne, Leverkusen, Berlin and Brussels. She studied design in Delft and art history in Paris, graduating in 1981. Of course the coastal-born painter loves the sea and the vastness of space, and many of her paintings revolve around the relationship between water and land.

The objective is to assess the significance of satellite-based measurements of essential climate variables at the sea surface in coastal waters of the North Sea. The North Sea as a shelf sea is particularly sensitive to the impacts of climate change.
