      Summer school in operational issues in Radioactive Waste Management and Nuclear Decommissioning Attendance

      Nuclear decommissioning and waste management are important steps in nuclear power plants' life cycle and a crucial factor for public acceptance of nuclear power. This year, the course is organised around several technical sessions and includes visits to JRC laboratories where participants will be able to participate in some measurement exercises. These practical examples and discussions with experts and other delegates offer a unique international learning opportunity.

      Tutor for an on the job training (OJT) for Armenian personnel of ANRA and NRSC about pressurized thermal shock event (PTS): the main goal of the OJT was oriented to strength the capability of ANRA and NRSC personnel in the field of stress analysis, assessment against fatigue damage and brittle fracture resistance, as well as on the advanced use of computational tools suitable for the assessment the WWER-440 RPV in case of PTS event.The training course consisted from the theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part included: -Initial survey of the requirements and objective for the RPV Structural Assessment (SA) of operating WWER reactors as defined in relevant IAEA Guidelines; -Fundamentals on selection of loading sequences, assumptions for the analysis and loads from thermal-hydraulic analysis; -Fundamentals of the CFD analysis of the cooling process of RPV nozzles and pressure walltructural Analysis; -Integrity Assessment;-Material Properties (mechanical and fracture mechanic properties); For the practical part was selected and analyzed PTS event for ANPP. It was chosen a LOCA event with an equivalent diameter of 18 mm on cold leg of the second loop, before MCP. The initial analysis is system thermal hydraulic (TH) calculation. TH analyses are followed by structural analyses. The TH calculations for the PTS evaluation were performed by RELAP 5 thermo-hydraulic computer code. At the end of the TH calculations results were transferred to Ansys Thermal Transient computer code as a thermal loads, for getting the temperature trend in the heat structure and comparing with the results of Relap 5 TH computer code. After that pressure load was added and results were found for KI.Those results have been compared with KIc got from VERLIFE and PNAE-G in emergency condition. 收起
