  Performed testing procedures on asphalt mix designs, testing sample preparation and performance testing on various fuels. Responsible for conducting weekly wheel path depth measurements and pavement reflectivity tests on the facilities Pavement Test Track. Assisted in the reconstruction of the NCAT Pavement Test Track and pavement core cutting. Utilized AutoCAD to import photos of pavement to identify areas of cracking for research evaluation on a weekly basis.   Geotechnical Engineer

  Responsible for preparing geotechnical engineering reports for the design and construction of bridge foundations, culvert foundations, retaining walls, and earth slopes.Coordinates drilling and sampling operations in the field in order to gather subsurface information at the project site. Determines a field sample testing schedule considering site variability, project time constraints, and budget requirements. Performs required geotechnical analysis and design of all possible foundation systems/wall systems suitable for the project site. Typical systems include: driven piles, drilled shafts, spread footings, micropiles, MSE walls, CIP walls, & soil nail walls. Completes all necessary test boring logs and site-soil profile drawings based on subsurface test data. Prepares detailed geotechnical reports. Assists contractors in the field to address construction issues as they arise. Works side by side with contractors when hazardous conditions arise to help make sure the dangerous situations are fixed in a timely manner. Attends necessary training classes and seminars to keep with the current state practice. Reviews work of fellow employees and design consultants. Show less
