My Master's Thesis was conducted in a plant genetics lab and focussed on developing an optimized assay to better understand variation of disease response in various Mentha populations. Show less

  Activities and Societies: Conducted independent research in an Evolution/Ecology based lab on projects focused on understanding the prevalence and implications of polyploidy in the Clarkia genus. Volunteered as a Japanese tutor throughout my time spent as an undergraduate student. Gained experience working 40+ hours in both integrated and special day elementary school classrooms. The General Biology B.S. program consisted of lecture and lab based courses in main topics of biology in order to train students in a well rounded knowledge base of biological, chemical, physical, and mathmatic concepts. Major emphasis was placed on direct applications of theory. I supplemented my major classes with electives in education, psychology, and Japanese.
