      Aug 2008 - Jun 2011
      Assistant Principal

A school leader working primarily – though not exclusively –with the 7th grade, I was the administrator charged with supervising the ESOL, Science, World Languages and Special Education departments. My most prevalent duties involved ensuring the safety and security (by creating/sustaining an environment in which students feel comfortable, confident, and respected in their hallways and classrooms) of a large student body comprising 1200 6th – 8th graders through consistent and effective disciplinary action in conjunction with positive behavior reinforcement, working through myriad academic and social issues with parents and teachers, organizing large events, using data to steer school planning efforts, responding to needs and re-aligning necessary resources both inside and outside the school, and hiring/evaluating/removing employees in order to guarantee optimal professional collaboration and student achievement. • Colegio Karl C. Parrish

      Jul 2011 - Jun 2014
      Principal

The leader of a SACS/AdvancED-accredited, private secondary school in Colombia, I was essentially my own Guidance Director, Dean of Students, Office Manager, Assistant Principal and Curriculum Director, among the other administrative hats I would typically wear from day to busy day. An average day for me involved supervision and evaluation, strategic and operational management, parent/staff meetings, the microcosmic political leadership required of a successful private school principal, razor-sharp, consistent discipline policies and a calm, cool, collected, and firm control of communication and messages (both spoken and written) where parents, students, teachers, staff members and other stakeholders were concerned. During a typical workday, I spoke an equal amount of Spanish and English, holding true to the core, bilingual values of Colegio Parrish’s founders and those who have both made it great and enhanced/preserved its prestige in a bustling, large, coastal Caribbean city. Colegio KCP's focus is on establishing and maintaining demanding academic rigor that challenges its 6th – 12th grade students to rise to the occasion, work collaboratively in a nurturing environment and grow both academically and socially to become responsible, well-rounded citizens of a complex, challenging and increasingly tech-savvy world. • St. Louis Language Immersion School (SLLIS)

      Jan 2014 - May 2015
      Founding Head of School

The job of the Founding Head of The International School requires the experience of a US and international school leader, combined with the flexibility, vision, patience, perseverance, and versatility necessary to build student culture, maintain current enrollment, attract new students, and develop staffing and scheduling to support a long-term vision, all while budding and starting to grow. It also relies on solid knowledge of immersion, bi-lingual, and language acquisition, not to mention in-depth expertise in the International Baccalaureate's Middle Years Programme. Wrap all this up in the uncertainty and constantly shifting landscape of an urban charter network, the challenges of moving into a building that had been out of operation for over a year, as well as the need to provide language immersion students with a third (and fourth) language in SS, and you have a formidable challenge. Rounding out my main leadership duties are scheduling, observation/feedback of teachers, discipline, community outreach, teacher training, safety/security, facilities/operations, grant-writing, managing $100,000+ budgets, and other leadership initiatives involved with and integral to the job of founding a new, IB-MYP, language immersion secondary school in South City St. Louis.
