  Activities and Societies: Performed the National Anthem at the Brooke Army Medical Center's Annual Christmas Ball Dec of 2013. Performed clinical hours at a 425-bed Level-I Trauma Center, in the bone marrow clinic, gastrointestinal clinic, casting clinic, pediatric sedation clinic, and cardiovascular clinic, medical-surgical, orthopedic, labor and delivery, pediatrics, cardiac, oncology, telemetry and burn step down units, Surgical/ Trauma/Cardiac/Neuro/Burn and Medical ICUs, and the Emergency Department.

  Passed the NREMT in order to obtain an EMT license and BLS certification. Following my EMT training, was trained in combat medicine including skills such as assessing and triaging combat related injuries (Gun Shot Wounds, puncture wounds secondary to an IED explosion, amputations, burns etc), dressing wounds, hemorrhage control, providing venous access with saline lock and giving medications such as Morphine, Heparin, or Lactated Ringer based on occurred injuries, to maintain an open airway… Show more Passed the NREMT in order to obtain an EMT license and BLS certification. Following my EMT training, was trained in combat medicine including skills such as assessing and triaging combat related injuries (Gun Shot Wounds, puncture wounds secondary to an IED explosion, amputations, burns etc), dressing wounds, hemorrhage control, providing venous access with saline lock and giving medications such as Morphine, Heparin, or Lactated Ringer based on occurred injuries, to maintain an open airway with either a nasopharyngeal airway or a cricoidotomy (similar to a tracheotomy), to use an occlusive dressing and needle decompression to help prevent/treat a tension pneumothorax in gun shot wound patients, monitoring interventions and patient's condition until higher level of care arrives. Along with extra curricular activities, during my Junior and Senior year, I also held a part time job at a family owned business called Ontario Orchards. Because of my success in vocal music during high school, following my senior year in the summer of 2012, I was invited to join a national music group called Sound of America to tour through six different countries in Europe.
