      Research work experience

During my summer holidays I have spent a month working in the synthetic chemistry laboratory within School of Pharmacy gaining additional experience as a voluntary position, thanks to the courtesy of my programme leader Dr Tobias Gruber. During this time I learned advanced synthetic chemistry methods and use of machinery/equipment in the lab. I was tasked with carrying out my supervisor’s projects involving a multistep chemical synthesis and analysis of the obtained data using variety of analytical, spectroscopy and chromatography methods. I improved my confidence in the independent work within laboratory setting and the use of wide array of equipment. I further developed transferrable skills such as problem solving, critical evaluation, writing lab notes. I also developed strong understanding and appreciation of the real-life scientific research.
