      Care Assistant

Working as an in home care assistant my duties were varied day to day. Sometimes I would work with clients who needed personal care, such as washing, clothing and having food made for them. Other clients however would need more intensive and varied care, such as working with people who are mentally disabled. This included assisting a wheelchair bound client with learning difficulties to college each week, or assisting to help an autistic child get ready for school as well as assisting one child who could only communicate through Makaton. I would also administer medications from blister packs for clients. Show less

    • Guys Cross Care Home

      Mar 2014 - Sept 2014
      Care Assistant

Working on a unit within a mental health facility, this means my day to day can be very varied. At Guys Cross we would try to promote independence for the residents as much as we could. Each memberof the unit has specific and unique conditions, which means they have very personalised care plans that must be adhered to. Some examples of the conditions I work with are brain injury, depression, bi- polar and schizophrenia. Usually I would assist with personal care in the morning, washing, clothing, feeding etc. I would sometimes cook lunch for the residents or do some of the cleaning on the unit.In the afternoon however we would like to assist the residents to go out of the unit if possible, this would mean a trip to get some food, or an activity of their choosing within reason. On these trips out we would be responsible for their safety and well-being, but want to make sure that they can be as independent as possible. We would help them do things themselves, for example ordering their food or purchasing items, but would take over if needs be. The residents could be a handful at times, even some times showing aggression. However I would remain calm and use techniques mentioned in the care plans to help calm the residents, as each resident is different. Show less

One article had over 10,000 views in a few days. I have also written about my personal experiences with anxiety as well as articles about movies.I will also edit my own posts online and have learnt quickly how to use SEO and keywords to my advantage. I like to be creative in my editing and use great and unusual images to demonstrate my point. Show less

      Operations Controller

Working as an Operations Controller in the Fire and Security industry is a wide and varied role. My day to day would include scheduling the rota for the engineers and booking in installations/maintenance with clients. I would handle the phones and answer client's queries and pass them to the appropriate department when they have been screened.I was responsible for all stock control and stock allocation to the correct jobs. An eye for detail is hugely important when doing this as one mistake can cost the company thousands. I would also cross sell and spot sales opportunities for the sales team. One of my main responsibilities was ensuring a positive and motivated attitude in the team of engineers. This can be extremely difficult as their role can be highly stressful, but I feel this is where I shine. I would like to keep the engineers happy so that the work can be completed in a timely fashion with less hiccups.I also would conduct minor training in health and safety and ensure they have the correct PPE at all times.
