    • Midyorkshire NHS Trust

      Nov 2009 - May 2011
Technical Project Manager - Patient Entertainment System

The Trust are under obligation by the Government to provide entertainment and communications at the bedside, but unlike most Trust’s have decided to buy the hardware outright and run it internally as a break even service. This has been by far the most challenging work I have been involved in. It’s a £2m project at the very front end of a service that discharges 120,000 patients every year. The Trust are currently moving into 2 new hospitals owned and managed by a Facilities Management company and due to this I have been heavily involved with liaising with them regarding the installation. As part of this role I’ve had to deal with the construction issues of Work Permits, Health and Safety Method Statements and CSCS cards and well as being a key contact between the installers, the Trust and the Facilities Management company.I’ve also been involved in the redesign of some system components to enable electrical cabling to be carried out to both UK standards and the standards in use within the buildings themselves. We are just about to start the installation of 700 units and I am currently working on creating the new department by recruiting the staff required and also ensuring that the amount of money generated will support the upkeep of the system throughout its life. Jul 2011 - Nov 2011
      Senior Server Officer

I was contracted by the council to help them provide backfill for a Groupwise to Exchange 2010 migration project. During this contract I have had to revisit some technologies I haven’t used since the beginning of my career, namely Novell Netware. It has been interesting to have the opportunity to compare the two network operating systems and messaging systems and has proved to me that providing you have a good grounding, the conversion between systems isn’t that difficult. I’ve also done some installation work on Redhat Linux and created a conversion batch script for the Quest migration tools. Show less
