  Specialist Engineering Intern

  Working primarily in Certification and Airworthiness, I gained knowledge of military airworthiness standards and procedures, systems engineering, management and project capture. I was fortunate enough to support and present in the MAA audit on Lockheed Martin during my internship, as well as taking on the responsibility of managing and tracking programme status of a major engineering programme. I also developed my coding knowledge in VBA and SQL.

  Pipelines Engineering Intern

  During my 3 month internship, I successfully designed, built and tested an automated tool that allows the user to perform complex Finite Element simulations of subsea pipe bend collapse models. The tool greatly reduced the model creation time by replacing manual user input with automated scripting, thus also reducing simulation errors and complexity. Having minimal experience in the oil and gas industry, I gained a large amount of knowledge and experience on my placement, in a relatively small amount of time. I not only learnt about subsea pipeline engineering, but also improved my coding skills in both VBA and python languages, as well as becoming confident in a new Finite Element Software; Abaqus FEA.   • Created component and assembly CAD, and drafted manufacturing drawings in Siemens NX. • Management of various projects, including project planning and compilation of Bills of Materials (BoM).• Conducted FEA in Siemens NX Nastran / Femap, and MSC Nastran. This included Rotordynamics analysis in XLRotor and MSC Nastran.• Supported manufacturing process of designs, including Design for Manufacture studies.• Instrumentation integration and lead-out design for test rigs using Siemens NX.• Chaired meetings, hosted site visits and worked on a regular basis with multiple customer stakeholders Show less
