  I loved this job! Our team traversed the state to take water samples and execute water flow studies in the rivers and estuaries throughout the Ohio Valley counties. We were responsible for on-site chemical handling of preservative and fixative agents, use of in-stream flow calibration, recording, data collection, and reporting. This was a year round function, so snow, rain, sleet, mud, heat, terrain were all part of the excitement and gratification of getting our requirement met. We mustered at 4 - 5AM, loaded ourselves and equipment in the vehicle, and off we went. We brought our samples back to the designated Lab, which concluded our day. The importance of water source pollution monitoring, and it effect on water bio-structure and organism viability was our mission and our team braved the elements to ensure that necessary information was obtained to do just that.
