During my placement, I supported the purchasing department to procure the highest-quality merchandise at the lowest possible price, in the correct amounts. My role entailed;• Management of Engineering/Manufacture Change Orders (ECO/MCOs), which involved effectively communicating complex engineering changes for 2,377 components to numerous suppliers and stakeholders.• Negotiation and removal of supply chain complexity, including resourcing and adding suppliers to the supply chain, to achieve yearly savings of $27,500.• Admin support, including adding parts to Oracle R12 and Ariba purchasing systems, resolving purchase requisitions, and raising orders. • Commodity support for Support for Sheet Steel Fabrications (SSF), Electronics, Hardware and Marine commodities such as; Data Analysis, Presentations and Admin.• Analysis of product pricing, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCOs), evaluating piece price, logistics, lead time and inventory costs.• Innovative development of process improvements for both Oracle R12 and Ariba, improving information, while reducing time taken to complete tasks.• Request For Quotation (RFQ) for new products, changes to existing products and price comparisons.• Surveying the top 80% of the U.K. supply chain in Cummins to assess how diverse the current suppliers were at the Kent Plant.• Supporting the Quality department, involved with APQP (PPAP) enforcement including raising standard orders to be inspected. • Corporate Responsibility (CIT), conducted STEM projects within Primary Schools with the Educating Business Partnership.
