      An award winning boutique architecture studio headed by Pieter Mathews.After my Undergraduate education, I did not apply for an architectural office job, but looked to gain on-site knowledge and experience. I worked for Mathews and Associate Quantity Surveyors and Mathews and Associated Architects as an on-site Candidate Architect. Managing the issuing of drawings from the architect, sub-contractor work and relations, reviewing Electrical and Civil Engineering drawings, managing the Plumbing Contractor and Main contractor's queries and helping and facilitating every single aspect of the construction process for MAAA. Starting with bill of quantities and tender processes, JBCC documentation, drawing revisions, cost reports, summery of builders work and attending every site meeting. Working also on construction work and sub contractor involvement. Working with the Client, the construction company, civil, acoustic and electrical engineers, QS, Artists and builders. I saw the project from start to finish in its nine month construction phase and it was a critical foundation to the start of my professional architectural career.The project was published in the Digest of South African Architecture 21, A review of work completed in 2016, p56-57 and was awarded a Pretoria Institute of Architecture Merit Award in 2017 and a Pretoria Institute of Architecture Award for Architects Best Educational Building 2017.https://www.maaa.co.za/default.html Show less

      A large, award winning architectural firm based in Johannesburg.During my time at Paragon I worked on multiple high risk proposals for interested clients and competitions in various group sizes. Assisting with design, presentation and early stage project management. The learning process was extremely beneficial, perfecting my Revit and Adobe skill to commercial office standards.       In 2016 while pursuing my Honours in architecture at the University of Pretoria, myself and Bernhard van Renssen formed a Drafting and Design Firm, M&VR Building Workshop, servicing the large town of Rustenburg, North West Province, South Africa. 5 projects were commissioned and 4 were built. Experience in project management, practical completion of projects, client relations and overall business hustle was obtained.These 5 projects included: New Beer BreweryOrthotics And Prosthetics Centre RefurbishmentWedding and Function Venue (Unbuilt)New Residential Home to act as a fine dining venue over weekends and New Off Grid Residence.The firm dissolved as both parties would join Kanda Architects in 2017.
