The Community Advisor (CA) is a student who is employed by University Student Housing to serve as a live-in member of the Residence Life Staff. • The CA works with the Residence Life Professional Staff in establishing a positive living and learning environment for the students of Texas Tech University in their area of responsibility. The CA is primarily involved in creating a community environment that is focused on student learning and student success. In order to accomplish this, the CA is expected to play a variety of roles. The CA must be flexible and creative in their role as an educator, counselor, advisor, mentor, and educational programmer to meet the needs of their residents.   • As a senior scientist leader on shift I am responsible for training and mentoring new night shift employees in our Hematology and Chemistry departments. I am also responsible for performing waived, moderate and high complexity biological and chemical analyses on patients, as well as phlebotomy and proficiency-type samples related to point-of-care testing. I am a competent user of Cerner and Powerchart HMR, Instrument manager, Sysmex Hematology analyzers, iChem Velocity Urinalysis instruments, ACL Top Coagulation analyzers, Roche Clinical Chemistry Cobas 8000 analyzers, Architect PLUS and Bioplex 2200 Immunology instruments.
