      May 2017 - Jul 2017
      Research Assistant

I characterized the thermo-mechanical behavior of carbon / carbon microcomposites. I used a diffraction setup to study the dilatation and a force sensor to study the variation of tensile strength with temperature.

      Research Assistant

I worked on gas transport in carbon / carbon composites. I repaired and optimized an custom apparatus that characterizes permeability and diffusivity. This apparatus was used for the study of argon diffusivity in carbon / carbon composite with different permeability. In addition, I used fluid mechanics concepts to connect my experimental results to the Knudsen laws used in rarefied regimes.

      Jan 2019 - Sept 2019
      Researcher

I studied the solid-liquid equilibrium of ionically-conductive metal sulfides pseudo-binary systems. My primary objective was to generate phase diagrams of these systems to inform high temperature molten sulfide electrolysis. A thermal imaging furnace (Floating Zone Furnace) was used to determine melting points and observe phase stability. Characterization and mapping of the multi-phase mixtures were completed with SEM-EDS analysis. This work also included the study of the liquid density and surface tension of the metal sulfides. Additionally, the vaporization behavior and composition of the liquid sulfides were explored. Show less

      Jan 2020 - Jul 2020
      Engineer Assistant

I am in charge of the conception, development and installation of a Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) reactor. Fluids mechanic, diffusion processes and solid-gas / gas-gas chemical reactions determine the design of the furnace. Close contact with suppliers companies are required for specific parts such as heating elements, pumps… Computer Aided Design (CAD), LabView, automatism, electrical system, vacuum techniques, heating processes are key points to build an efficient and advanced CVD furnace.
